My brand of tanks, Ellen Anchor, are perfect under any top or tunic. They are long enough for layering, versatile in the reversibility of the neck line (scoop front and V-neck back that can be worn either way),  and the fitted, yet comfortable spandex fabric helps to slim the tummy and waistline.

My slimming tanks are perfect under tops that are too low cut in the neck and under the arms.

They are also the perfect remedy to a knitted see through top or one where the back is out but you aren't in the "back showing" mood.

I am not ahuge fan of tops where the sides are cut upwards to show the waist. Who wants to constantly worry about their muffin top? NOT ME! My Ellen Anchor tanks are the perfect go to!
