It's no secret that I have recently gone through one of the more negative life changing events, divorce. Honestly, it all happened very fast. Last Thanksgiving the thought really hadn't crossed my mind and by February of this year, my husband had moved out and the process began. I am not writing this post to air my dirty laundry or "ex-husband bash". When it all went down, I asked him to move out and he obliged. I think we had both realized that the relationship was either on it's way out or had actually ended a few months prior. It was slightly emotional but honestly, there were never any huge cry sessions on the phone, never massive brawls on who did what (not to say we did not have a handful of arguments over the kiddos), or never any talks of missing each other or getting back together. We both seemed to resort to an auto-pilot co-parenting mode and began our new lives immediately.

If there is one lesson that I have learned in my 30's that I am extremely grateful for, it is the lesson of Living Free. Now this concept can be a little confusing, but if you can understand and implement it in your life, I promise your mental health will strengthen and your love for life will flourish.

I get constant questions on how I did it? How did I quit my Fortune 100 job climbing the corporate ladder,  and give up the easy 9 to 5 for an extremely risky business endeavor?  I can tell you one thing, I have had lots of failures and tons of successes with my business in the past 6 years but one thing always remains, I absolutely LOVE my job and being my own boss! Yes it was risky, but not because of the nature of my business. Retail is not a new business model, but the risk lies within the skill set and knowledge level of the entrepreneur. Since I had no experience running a retail shop, the anxiety of failure and insecurity of my competency level always lingered over my shoulder.

Bear with me, this is going to be a tough one for me to write. You know the whole, being transparent with my readers thing, well I am going to be completely transparent at the risk of sounding selfish, pathetic, and downright insane... so here is goes.

Back from a week long vacation and ready to throw a curve ball at ya'll. You all are going to think I have lost my mind but remember, May is my series of "Finding Alex" and, well, Alex has definitely uncovered a whole new world of fashion! In my finding Alex series this month, I have been exploring different feelings and needs that I have neglected for years in hopes to hind myself in this time of change in my life. Lately I have been craving a dose of connection and zen with myself. In my high school and college years, I was always in to the biggest spiritual fad; Kabbalah, Reiki healing, angel guides, old Irish mysticism in the Roman Catholic church, auras, tapping in to your God given gift, your 6th sense. You name it, I was curious.

As a single momma, I have had to lay the ground work for what a successful family looks like, especially with my little family. Financial planning is a huge part of this and I am so glad to have Regions Bank to help me along the way, which is why I’m so excited to share that Regions is opening up a new local branch.
