This week I was invited to the pre-opening of IKEA Memphis, as well as the after party. WOW! What an exciting and eventful day. Want to see a few tidbits on what IKEA is offering our community? I thought so! Check it out!

Laura Boswell of Walking in Memphis in High Heels and I, began our morning with a traditional Swedish smorgasbord. I tried EVERYTHING. I must admit, everything offered was brand new to my palette. I had never ventured into Swedish food and every single bite was scrumptious!

Our new IKEA has a great selection of Swedish ingredients and dishes in their Swedish Market. You can choose to create your own dish or enjoy the delicacies of Sweden in the cafe.

After enjoying the food and meeting the very friendly IKEA staff members, we headed on over to take a tour of the store. The foot traffic promotion throughout the store is unlike anything I have ever seen. Being in retail myself, I am always hammering the "customer experience" to my employees and IKEA has nailed this one on the head! As you meander through the land of IKEA, you are presented with tons of different lifestyle design choices, from New York flat scenes to Southern Living coziness. It is very easy to picture yourself in one of their attractive displays. As a matter of fact, I actually inserted myself into the scenes.

Getting an idea for what my future office will feel like.

and my future bedroom....

and kitchen....haha

At the end of the trail, you enter IKEA's fulfillment and checkout center. It is quite breathtaking as the rows of shelving are from floor to ceiling full of IKEA goodies.

We had a BLAST during our sneak peek tour in the new Memphis IKEA, but the day was not over! Of course we had to celebrate. IKEA threw a Battle of the Bands - Meet Me in Memphis party at Lafayette's Music Room so I headed on over to Eva Salon to see Amberly Gwinn to get a do for the big event.

After my hair was complete and my make up was finished, I slid into my sparkly two piece skirt suit from Sugarplum Consignments .

I loved how Lafayette's was re-arranged into an IKEA social club! We sat in the big comfy Strandmon and the Poang chairs while watching the Battle of the Bands competition! Needless to say, I have 3 new avorite bands....The Band Camino, Marsella and her Lovers, and J. Buck.

I had a wonderful time being IKEA's guest at Lafayette's Battle of the Bands competition and their pre-store opening last Wednesday. I am SUPER excited for the opening. Want to see what will be in store? Check out IKEA.com to do a little pre-shopping.

WELCOME TO MEMPHIS IKEA!
